Cingular Salutes "Cingular Best Solution" Award Winners at WAVE 2002

Second Annual Award Program Recognizes the Most Innovative Uses of Cingular Networks

ORLANDO – WAVE 2002 – May 15, 2002 – eAgency Systems, Research In Motion, Ltd., Discrete Wireless, Inc., and Openwave Systems, Inc. are the winners of the second annual "Cingular Best Solution" Awards, which were announced today at Cingular Wireless’ WAVE 2002 conference at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando.

The "Cingular Best Solution" Awards for 2002 recognized the most innovative commercially available solutions enabled for Cingular’s networks in the categories of Field Force Automation, Mobile Professional, Insurance and Consumer. The awards this year went to:

  • eAgency Systems (www.eagency.com), in the category of Insurance, for the eAgency Wireless Information Exchange (WIX), a scaleable, n-tier messaging platform, running on Cingular’s nationwide Mobitex wireless packet data network, that can securely exchange information between a corporate database and a wireless handheld. It seamlessly enables wireless e-mail while satisfying the needs of both mobile users and IT departments.   • Discrete Wireless (www.discretewireless.com), in the category of Field Force Automation, for MARCUS™, the Discrete Wireless vehicle tracking solution that provides fleet managers the mapping and reports they require to establish a rapid ROI by increasing driver productivity, accurate reporting of sales calls, tracking overtime and monitoring/documenting exceptions.
  • Openwave Systems (www.openwave.com), in the category of Consumer, for Openwave™ Mobile Access Gateway, a powerful Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) gateway and software package that supports enhanced applications such as m-commerce.
